Sharon Jones, the powerful soul singer and Dap-Kings frontwoman, has died at age 60 after a years-long battle with cancer, her publicist announced Friday (Nov. 18)
A message from her band was posted to their website, “We are deeply saddened to announce that Sharon Jones has passed away after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings.”
Her family and members of the band would like to thank all their friends and fans for the prayers and thoughts during this difficult time. They suggested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations:
